On September 4, 2015 at 7:00pm, the Lake Placid Center for the Arts (LPCA) will present an exclusive screening of “The 46ers,” a documentary about people who have hiked the 46 Adirondack High Peaks. Film director Blake Cortright will be at the screening to provide viewers with a behind the scenes look at the making of the film.
“The 46ers” features compelling stories of individuals who have journeyed to the top of all 46 High Peaks in Upstate NY. Providing a bit of history and education while encouraging stewardship and environmental conservation, the film showcases some of the more than 8,000 people who have conquered some of the tallest mountains in the Adirondack Park.
Cortright’s quest to create “The 46ers” began more than three years ago when Cortright was hiking Mount Marcy with his father and brother. Surrounded by the wilderness on the mountainside, Cortright was inspired to tell the story of the intrepid, dedicated individuals who tackle the 46 High Peaks. After a successful Kickstarter campaign, the making of the film began.
The first public screening of this unique documentary will take place at the LPCA. Following its debut in Lake Placid, the film will be shown at select theaters around the state of New York during the months of September and October. Arrangements are being made for the film to be released through PBS affiliates and ultimately released on DVD and Blu-ray.
